Concept Design, Preliminary Design, Detail Design
CLIENT: Biological Faculty
STATUS: Detail Design Project
LOCATION: Belgrade, Serbia
BUILDING AREA: 4.000m2
THE
FACULTY IS LOCATED IN BOTANICAL GARDEN “JEVREMOVAC” IN THE HEART OF
BELGRADE. THE PROJECT INCLUDES TWO CONNECTED VOLUMES, A+B AND AN
ENTRANCE TO THE FACULTY BUILDING IN BETWEEN.
The
architectural composition of the Faculty of Biology emerged from the
need for a compact functional solution that does not jeopardize the
environment of the botanical garden. The larger volume, located along
the street of Vojvode Dobrnjca, forms a barrier between the ambiance of
the street and the garden. The building subsequently descends towards
the garden in order to make the volume B fit with the existing ambient.
The main goal was to make a neutral structure, not pretentious nor
dominant over the ambiance of the garden, but an integral part of the
context. The green wall facade finish is reminiscent of the purpose of
the building.
